Rennata Morrison is currently in her Honours year, completing a Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She began learning the violin at the age of six, with Lois Shepheard, and currently studies with Michael Loftus-Hills. Her introduction to the magic of music started at the age of four, when she began piano lessons with Nehama Patkin, after curiously observing her older brother and sister during their lessons. Learning two instruments, however, wasn't enough! She then started flute lessons at high school, in Year 7, and enjoyed being thoroughly immersed in music. Rennata loves sharing her passion for music with others, and is fascinated by the unique power it has to connect with people.
While at the Conservatorium, Rennata has been the recipient of the Corrina Hage Mayer String Scholarships, and the Brunner Music Scholarship. She has also taken part in masterclasses by renowned musicians, including Noah Bendix-Balgely and Oleh Krysa. She has especially enjoyed participating in the Mimir Music Festival, since its conception in Melbourne. An avid orchestral and chamber musician, Rennata performs with Melbourne Opera, and has been part of orchestras run by Melbourne Youth Music and the Australian Youth Orchestra. She also performs regularly as a sessional musician.
