Lindsay Brunsdon

Lindsay’s musical career incorporates performance, composition and education. He holds postgraduate degrees in both History and Music, and has most recently been teaching a History of Aesthetics. He has taught at both secondary and tertiary levels, including the University of Melbourne and the Australian Ballet.

Lindsay’s experiences as a performer have been in the Classical, Rock, Electronica and Jazz spheres with some of Lindsay’s recordings having chart success in Australia (No.1 independent charts), the USA (No. 3 college charts) and in the United Kingdom. Lindsay has received composition commissions from the ABC, theVictorian College of the Arts, the University of Melbourne and Monash University, as well as many chamber ensembles and choral groups. He has written soundtracks for films (screened on both television and at film festivals in Australia and Europe), as well as several theatre works in both Melbourne and Sydney. The Centre for Studies in Australian Music has published the score for his award winning opera, JOY.

He has also written extensively for the ten-piece ensemble, the LINDSAY BRUNSDON NOCTURNAL ORIENTATION WORKOUT (the NOW ensemble). Clive O’Connell from The Age, reviewed Lindsay’s work with the NOW ensemble a “quite remarkable…communicates with an unarguable integrity”. Lindsay currently teaches both History and Music, and has interests in photography, Angevin England and cars.
