Lachlan Dent holds a PhD (Music Performance) from Monash University that focused on the Application of the pedagogy of Evangeline Benedetti (cellist with the NY Philharmonic 1964-2011) and Christopher Bunting (author of Essay on the Craft of Cello Playing 1982), to performance. He made his New York debut with the Ensemble for the Romantic Century in 2012, performing with prominent musicians Stephanie Chase (violin) and Max Barros (piano). Lachlan has guest lectured and performed in Malaysia, and has served on the faculty of the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho in Fortaleza, Brazil. He has also served on the faculty of Monash University, and has appeared as associate artist for Master of Music Performance candidates at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. His performances have been broadcast on ABC Classic FM and 3MBS in Australia. In 2016 Lachlan presented at the International Society for Music Education’s conference in Glasgow, Scotland. His article, Coordination in Cello Playing, appears in the November 2016 issues of the American String Teacher Journal.
